Living and Working in San Francisco

Live, Work, and Play in San Francisco

Welcome to one of the most beautiful cities in the world – San Francisco!! With SFTR, Residents and alumni experience the wonder of teaching and building community in San Francisco. Home to pioneering innovation in science and technology, San Francisco is also rich in diversity, culture, and community.

San Francisco is a big-small city with great beauty and tons to offer packed into almost 47 square miles. We’ve got beaches. We’ve got the best burritos in the country (our humble opinion) and millions of cafes (good places for lesson planning). We’ve got a vibrant night-life, and miles of street art to study.

Our beloved city also has a rich legacy of activism that has shaped local and national laws and social movements. Historically, San Francisco has been on the front lines of social justice causes that have sparked change and reverberated across the United States. These causes have included universal and affordable healthcare, immigration policies, civil rights, marriage equality, LGBT rights, and environmental protection.

While living and teaching in San Francisco, SFTR members also enjoy diverse museums and learning centers, including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of the African Diaspora, the California Academy of Sciences, and the Yerba Buena Center of the Arts. They take-in Giant’s baseball games at AT&T Park and catch live shows and concerts at The Fillmore or The Independent.

And thankfully, it’s not hard to get around. San Francisco boasts reliable and affordable transit systems, and no matter the neighborhood, great restaurants, shops, and history are within a short walk or bus ride.

Seriously – join us in one of the best places in the world.
